French star Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid player, surprised his fans after he suddenly demanded to be substituted during the match against Atalanta yesterday, Tuesday. The Frenchman scored a goal in the match in the 10th minute, but at 34th minute mark of the first half, he sat on the ground and asked to be substituted, with Rodrygo coming on instead of him.
The footage shown on television screens did not reveal the details of Kylian's injury, as he did not experience any significant contact with the opposing players, which made his sudden exit more mysterious.However, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, explained in the post match press conference that Mbappe "suffers from fatigue and pain in the lower pelvis."
He added: "It does not seem like a serious injury, but we will see how things will turn out after the examinations."
Mbappe's performance since his transfer to Real Madrid has drawn widespread criticism, however, he played what many consider to be one of his best matches this season against Atalanta, as he scored the opening goal and was always a constant threat to the opposition.
Journalist Javier Herraez revealed in his statements on Cadena Ser radio that: "Mbappé got on the Real Madrid bus after the Atalanta match and he feels good."
He continued: "Kylian arrived on the bus without limping and walked normally, despite his injury and requesting to be substituted in the first half."
