Al-Ittihad Jeddah reached the semi-finals of the Saudi King's Cup after knocking out Al-Hilal, the defending champions, by winning on penalties 3-1 after the end of the regular and extra time of their match with a 2-2 draw, Tuesday.
The regular time of the match ended in a 1-1 draw, as Al-Ittihad took the lead through Karim Benzema in the 63rd minute, and Salem Al-Dawsari scored the equalizer for the title holder in the 73rd minute, forcing the two teams to resort to two extra halves.
Marcos Leonardo scored Al-Hilal's second goal in the first extra half (minute 101) before Benzema scored the equalizer for Al-Ittihad in the second extra half (114), forcing the two teams to resort to penalty kicks, which went the way of "Al-Ameed" who won 3-1. Al-Ittihad stopped a series of 8 consecutive victories for Al-Hilal in the classico matches in all tournaments.
Al-Ittihad will later determine its opponent in the semi-finals of the Saudi King's Cup.
