Atletico Madrid qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey after thrashing Getafe 5-0 in the quarter-finals on Tuesday. The match saw Atletico Madrid dominate as they were the better side throughout the match.
The young Argentine striker Juliano Simeone, son of Atletico coach Diego Simeone, had a spectacular match scoring two early goals in the 13th and 17th minutes, putting his team ahead.
Before the end of the first half, Samuel Lino added Atletico Madrid's third goal.
In the second half, Atletico Madrid continued to dominate, and Angel Correa managed to score the fourth goal in the 78th minute, before Alexander Sorloth concluded the goal festival in the 86th minute.
Atletico Madrid became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Spanish King's Cup, awaiting the results of the other matches, as Real Madrid will play against Leganes, Wednesday, while Barcelona will face Valencia and Real Sociedad will face Osasuna on Thursday.
This victory and qualification are very important for Atletico Madrid, boosting the team's morale before the much anticipated Madird Derby against Real Madrid in the 23 round of the Spanish League next Saturday.
Real Madrid tops the Spanish League standings with 49 points from 22 matches, one point ahead of Atletico Madrid, which is in second place.
