Real Madrid booked its place in the semi-finals of the Spanish King's Cup with difficulty, by defeating its host Leganes 3-2, Wednesday, in the quarter-final match that was held at the "Butarque" stadium. Real Madrid's victory came after an exciting match that witnessed an exchange of goals and Real Madrid avoiding a comeback from Leganes after the latter succeeded in equalizing the score 2-2 after being behind by two goals without a response.
Real Madrid opened the scoring through Luka Modric, who took advantage of a pass from Rodrygo inside the penalty area to fire the ball powerfully into the net in the 18th minute.
Brazilian prodigy Endrick added Real Madrid's second goal after exploiting a defensive lapse from Leganes in the 25th minute.
Leganes reduced the deficit from a penalty kick taken by Juan Cruz in the 39th minute.
Cruz returned in the 59th minute to score the equalizer for Leganes with a deceptive shot that hit one of Real Madrid's defenders and deflected into the net.
Finally, in stoppage time, substitute Gonzalo Garcia scored the winning goal for Real Madrid with a wonderful header, after a perfect cross pass from Moroccan Brahim Diaz.
Real Madrid thus secured its spot in the semi-finals of the Spanish King's Cup.
