The final Merseyside Derby battle at Goodison Park

12 February 2025

Dutch manager Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, confirmed on Tuesday that the Reds are ready to face Everton in the postponed Merseyside derby on Wednesday. Liverpool will be visiting Everton on Wednesday evening for the 122nd and final match between them at Goodison Park.

This match was scheduled to take place on December 7, as part of the 15th round of the English Premier League, but was postponed due to bad weather.

Arne Slot said during the press conference dedicated to this match: "I think the stadium will be an additional reason to make the atmosphere better than all previous matches. I have never played this derby before, but everyone tells me that the atmosphere there is always great, as is the case at Anfield. I think the players are ready to fight another battle tomorrow for the simple reason that they are ready for the entire season and many of them have prior experience of this match."

Everton will bid farewell to their home stadium, Goodison Park, which was first opened in 1892, at the end of the current season and move to their new stadium, Bramley-Moore Dock.

Liverpool are seeking revenge for their 0-2 loss at Everton in their last match at Goodison Park, when the Reds were under the leadership of their former German coach Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are at the top of the league with 56 points, and are looking to extend the gap to 9 points between them and runners-up Arsenal.

While Everton are in 16th place on the table with 26 points.
