The full list of qualifiers for the Champions League Round of 16 was completed with the end of the Round of 16 play-off matches last night. Dutch club Feyenoord, Belgian Club Brugge, Portuguese Benfica, German Bayern Munich, German Borussia Dortmund, French Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish Real Madrid, and Dutch Eindhoven booked their seats in the Round of 16 through the Round of 16 play-off matches.
These clubs joined 8 other teams that had secured direct qualification to the Round of 16 after occupying the first eight places in the league stage, namely:
Liverpool, English Barcelona, English Arsenal, Italian Inter Milan, Spanish Atletico Madrid, German Bayer Leverkusen, French Lille and English Aston Villa.
Under the new tournament format, teams that qualify directly for the Round of 16 will face teams that have qualified via the knockout stage. Here are the possible Round of 16 matches:
Liverpool (league stage winners) will play against:
Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica.
Barcelona (league stage runners-up) # Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica.
Arsenal (third) # Feyenoord or PSV Eindhoven
Inter Milan (fourth) # Feyenoord or PSV Eindhoven.
Atletico Madrid (fifth) # Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
Bayer Leverkusen (sixth) # Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
Lille (seventh) # Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund.
Aston Villa (eighth) # Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund.
Round of 16:
First leg: March 4 and 5, 2025.
Second leg: March 11 and 12, 2025.
Quarter-finals:
First leg: April 8 and 9, 2025.
Second leg: April 15 and 16, 2025.
Semi-finals:
First leg: April 29 and 30, 2025.
Second leg: May 6 and 7, 2025.
Final:
May 31, 2025 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
