Barcelona has announced the nature of the injury sustained by defender Pau Cubarsi during his participation with the Spanish national team against the Netherlands last Thursday, in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.
In a statement posted on its X account on Saturday, Barcelona said: "Tests carried out this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper have shown that Pau Cubarsi, a first-team player, has a sprained anterior tibiofibular ligament in his right ankle."
The statement added that the player will continue conservative treatment, and his physical activity tolerance will be reassessed within 48 hours. Coparsi injured his right ankle during Spain's match against the Netherlands, forcing him to leave the national team camp and return to Barcelona.
Cubarsi's injury comes ahead of Barcelona's postponed La Liga match against Osasuna, scheduled for next Thursday.
