A 1-1 draw settled the Milan derby between AC Milan and, Inter Milan, on Wednesday evening at the San Siro Stadium in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. Milan opened the scoring in the second half through striker Tammy Abraham, who received the ball inside the penalty area, then spun brilliantly before firing into the bottom right corner of the Inter goal in the 47th minute.
But Inter refused to give up, as Turkish star Hakan Calhanoglu equalized with a stunning rocket from outside the penalty area in the 67th minute, beating French goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a powerful shot.
After the equalizer, Inter pressed hard in search of an early lead, but Maignan's brilliance prevented the visitors from scoring again. With this positive draw, the outcome was postponed to the second leg, which will be held on April 23.
The winner of the Milan derby will face either Bologna or Empoli in the Coppa Italia final, scheduled for May 14 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
