Callum Wilson Joins West Ham on One-Year Deal

West Ham United have completed the signing of striker Callum Wilson on a one-year contract, following the player’s departure from Newcastle United earlier this summer.

Wilson, 33, became a free agent after his contract with Newcastle expired.

While several Premier League and Major League Soccer clubs expressed interest, the former England international opted to join West Ham, passing a medical on Saturday.

Speaking after finalising the move, Wilson said: "I’m really pleased to be joining a club with the ambition and history of West Ham."

"I’ve always valued hard work and a team-first mentality, and that’s exactly what this club represents. There’s real talent here, and under the new manager, I believe we’re all pulling in the same direction."

The forward struggled for consistent game time last season at Newcastle, making only 18 Premier League appearances due to injuries and strong competition from Alexander Isak.

Despite that, Wilson leaves the club with a respectable record, having netted 49 goals in 130 appearances since arriving from Bournemouth in 2020 for £20 million.

Wilson’s arrival marks the latest addition to West Ham’s busy summer transfer window, which has already included Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Daniel Cummings.

The club is also reportedly monitoring Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey as they continue to reshape their squad under new manager Graham Potter.
