Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi suffered a serious injury during Barça's 5-0 win over Daegu of South Korea on Monday, as part of the Catalan club's Asian tour. After suffering the injury, Cubarsi spent a few minutes on the pitch before realizing he was unable to continue and requesting a substitution.
Barcelona has not yet issued an official statement clarifying the nature of Cubarsi's injury or the length of his absence.
However, Catalan newspapers appear optimistic about the young defender's recovery in time to participate in the match against Mallorca, which will be the Catalan team's first match of the new 2025-26 La Liga season.
Barcelona returns home today, Tuesday, after concluding its Asian tour, which saw it win all three of its matches. They defeated South Korea's Daegu FC 5-0, Japan's Vissel Kobe 3-1, and South Korea's FC Seoul 7-3.
Barcelona is now preparing to face Italy's Como at the Johan Cruyff Stadium in its final friendly match, before facing Real Mallorca in its opening La Liga match on August 16.
