Adidas Unveils New Official Match Balls for 2025/26 UEFA Champions League and Women’s Champions League

Adidas has unveiled the official match balls for the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Women’s Champions League, set to debut on 27 August.

The designs celebrate the "stars of the game" and their journeys to the finals in Budapest (UCL) and Oslo (UWCL) next May. Both versions draw inspiration from celestial themes: the men’s ball from the night sky, and the women’s from deep space and the northern lights.

Design Inspiration

  • UEFA Champions League Ball: The traditional white star paneling is accented with gold outlines and blue details, complemented by hand-drawn golden zodiac symbols. These motifs are intended to symbolise destiny and the heroic qualities of competition under Europe’s night skies.
  • UEFA Women’s Champions League Ball: The ball channels the vastness of space and the vibrancy of the aurora borealis. Dark purple panels are overlaid with neon green gradients and brushstrokes reflecting solar movement, while luminous pink and white finishing touches evoke the brilliance of distant stars.

Both versions feature the adidas Badge of Sport, along with their respective competition logos, reinforcing their identity as official symbols of Europe’s elite tournaments.

Technical Innovation

Beyond aesthetics, the 2025/26 match balls showcase significant performance and sustainability advancements:

  • PRISMA Surface: A debossed texture designed to optimise ball precision, swerve, and flight stability.
  • Grip and Durability: A high-performance outer coating and thermally bonded seamless construction ensure enhanced grip, control, and durability in all conditions.
  • CTR-CORE Technology: An advanced core engineered for accuracy, speed, and air retention. Built from a zero-waste natural rubber bladder and reinforced with PES fabric, it provides consistent shape and stability during high-intensity play.

Sustainability Commitment

This year’s iterations incorporate more bio-based materials than any previous UEFA Champions League or Women’s Champions League match balls. Layers include fibres from corn, sugar cane, wood pulp, and natural rubber, demonstrating adidas’ push toward environmentally responsible production without compromising performance.

Additionally, recycled polyester and water-based inks are used in the manufacturing process.

Social Impact

As part of adidas’ ongoing collaboration with Common Goal, one percent of global net sales from adidas footballs—including the new Champions League balls—will be directed toward initiatives supporting underserved communities worldwide. This commitment reflects the brand’s ambition to use football as a catalyst for social inclusion and positive change.

Availability

The new official match balls for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League and Women’s Champions League are now available through adidas stores, select retailers, and the adidas online platform.
