Rodri suffers another setback ahead of Everton match

17 October 2025

Manchester City's Spanish midfielder Rodri is expected to miss Saturday's Premier League match against Everton due to a hamstring injury.

Rodri limped off during Manchester City's 1-0 win over Brentford earlier this month and was forced to miss his country's 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that Rodri is "not ready" to return to action.

Last year's Ballon d'Or winner Rodri missed most of last season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He has made nine appearances for club and country this season, but lasted just 22 minutes before being substituted against Brentford, appearing distressed as he left the field.

Rodri had already missed the start of the current season after suffering another injury, reportedly to his thigh, during this year's Club World Cup in the United States, and had complained of knee pain in recent weeks.
