12 November 2025

Emirati press reports have revealed a preliminary agreement between the Egyptian Football Association and the UAE Pro League for the UAE to host the next edition of the Egyptian Super Cup in 2026.

This comes after the resounding success of the last edition, held in Abu Dhabi, which saw Al Ahly crowned champions after defeating Zamalek 2-0.

According to the newspaper "Emirates Today," Hani Abu Rida, president of the Egyptian Football Association, and Abdullah Al Junaibi, president of the UAE Pro League, agreed to continue holding the tournament in the UAE, while also exploring ways to develop it further in the next edition.

The newspaper indicated that the discussions included increasing the prize money for the new edition, in addition to maintaining the current format with four participating teams, similar to previous editions which witnessed significant fan engagement.

It is worth noting that the prize money for the last edition reached approximately $600,000, while the UAE Pro League announced that the tournament achieved record viewership figures across television channels and social media platforms.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced via its official X platform account: "The Super Billion Views... The event that captivated the world. Unprecedented historical figures for the Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi, adding another success to our record of championships."

According to official data, the number of media representatives covering the event exceeded 246, reflecting the growing importance of the Egyptian Super Cup as a prominent Arab football event.

The official announcement regarding the date for the next edition of the Egyptian Super Cup in the UAE is expected in the coming weeks, following the finalization of organizational details between the two parties.
