FC Barcelona has announced the date of its return to Camp Nou and the first match the Catalan team will play at its home stadium after the recent renovations. The club stated on its official social media accounts that Barcelona will return to Camp Nou on November 22nd, following the current international break, and will play its first match against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.
Barcelona announced in an official statement: "The match scheduled for Matchday 13 of La Liga against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, November 22nd at 4:15 PM (local time) will finally be played at the Spotify Camp Nou."
The club explained that the current permitted capacity is 45,401 spectators, significantly less than the final target capacity of 105,000 seats after the completion of the renovations.
The statement added: "Barcelona celebrates its return to competition at its home stadium and continues to make progress on the comprehensive transformation project of the new Camp Nou." Barcelona's last official match at Camp Nou was on May 28, 2023, against Mallorca, before the stadium closed for major renovations.
Since then, the team has played its matches at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, which currently has the same temporary capacity as Camp Nou.
Barcelona is currently second in the La Liga standings with 28 points, behind leaders Barcelona with 31 points. Athletic Bilbao is in seventh place with 17 points.
