Manchester United are considering a loan move for Conor Gallagher, several Premier League clubs remain in the race for Antoine Semenyo, while Aston Villa have entered the chase for Brennan Johnson.

Manchester United have drawn up a shortlist of seven midfield targets, with a January loan move for Atletico Madrid and England midfielder Conor Gallagher, 25, viewed as one of the most realistic options.

Tottenham have withdrawn from the pursuit of Bournemouth and Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo. However, the 25-year-old continues to attract interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, while Liverpool are assessing their stance in light of Alexander Isak’s injury.

Semenyo, who has a £60.5m release clause, is understood to be close to making a decision on his future.

Aston Villa have approached the representatives of Tottenham and Wales winger Brennan Johnson, 24, who has fallen out of favour in north London. Crystal Palace are also monitoring his situation.

Chelsea are prepared to allow France defender Axel Disasi, 27, to leave on loan in January, with AC Milan among the interested parties, although the Italian club are currently weighing up alternative options.

Chelsea and Manchester City are both tracking highly rated 16-year-old England youth international winger Jeremy Monga and could move to sign him from Championship side Leicester City in the January window.

Roma have submitted a €5m (£4.4m) bid to sign Manchester United and Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee, 24, on loan in January, with a further €30m (£26.2m) proposed to make the deal permanent next summer.

Newcastle United remain in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a loan deal for 22-year-old forward William Osula, which would include an option to buy. The player is keen on a move to the Bundesliga and is awaiting an agreement between the clubs.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have both shortlisted Portugal midfielder Ruben Neves, 28, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal believed to be open to a January sale.

Real Madrid are set to send 19-year-old Brazil forward Endrick on a six-month loan to Lyon.

Bayer Leverkusen are exploring a move for Brighton’s 17-year-old English winger Harry Howell, with several other Bundesliga clubs also expressing interest.

Chelsea have identified Lille’s 18-year-old French midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as their leading midfield target for the January transfer window.
