The Algerian national team overcame their Democratic Republic of Congo counterparts with a "killer" goal after extra time in their match on Tuesday evening, as part of the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.

After the end of regulation time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with a goalless draw due to a lack of chances for both sides and a stellar performance from DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mbassi, the two teams went to extra time.

Substitute Adel Boulbina scored the only goal of the match in the 119th minute after receiving the ball outside the penalty area, advancing forward, and unleashing a stunning shot that found the back of Mbassi's net.

The Algerian national team secured their qualification and achieved their fourth consecutive victory in this edition, topping Group E with three wins against Burkina Faso, Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea. Meanwhile, the DR Congo, fourth-place finishers in the previous edition, were eliminated after their first defeat in this tournament.

The Algerian national team, two-time African champions, qualified for the quarterfinals and will face a tough challenge against Nigeria, who defeated Mozambique 4-0 on Monday.

The Algeria-Nigeria match is scheduled for next Saturday.
