Wilson Breaks Spurs Hearts as West Ham Snatch Late Derby Win

Callum Wilson struck deep into stoppage time to give West Ham United a dramatic victory against Tottenham Hotspur, a result that intensified the pressure on Spurs boss Thomas Frank amid furious scenes in the stands.

Cristian Romero’s second-half header had hauled Tottenham level, but Wilson reacted quickest at a late corner to fire home and end West Ham’s 10-game wait for a Premier League win.

The goal sparked a hostile reaction inside the stadium, with home supporters turning on their manager and players at the final whistle.

Spurs, who handed a debut to summer signing Conor Gallagher following his £35m move from Atletico Madrid, were hoping for a positive start to calm growing unrest.

Instead, it was West Ham who took control early on. Crysencio Summerville opened the scoring after 15 minutes, his effort deflecting off Micky van de Ven and beyond Guglielmo Vicario.

The mood darkened further for the hosts when defender Ben Davies was forced off on a stretcher after a heavy challenge on West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen in the build-up to the goal.

As frustration mounted, the visitors passed up a huge chance to extend their lead, with Valentin Castellanos heading over from close range.

Tottenham were jeered off at half-time but responded with more purpose after the break.

Yves Bissouma’s introduction lifted the tempo and Spurs were rewarded when Romero powered in Pedro Porro’s cross midway through the second half.

With momentum seemingly swinging their way, Spurs pushed for a winner, only for West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to deny Xavi Simons with a sharp save.

The final twist came moments later when Wilson’s late strike silenced the home crowd and sealed a vital victory for the Hammers.

Spurs analysis: Frank under growing scrutiny

This defeat will do little to ease the pressure on Thomas Frank.

Even a draw would have felt unsatisfactory, but losing in the final moments fuelled the anger of supporters who openly questioned his future.

The frustration goes beyond results.

Slow build-up play, a lack of urgency and repeated lapses in concentration have become familiar themes, further souring the atmosphere around the club.

While Tottenham’s hierarchy appear reluctant to make a change, the reaction from the stands suggests patience is wearing thin.

West Ham analysis: Vital lift in survival fight

For West Ham, the win was priceless.

Ending a long league drought away at a rival’s ground provides both belief and breathing space in their fight to move away from danger.

Summerville was lively throughout, while Wilson showed exactly why he was introduced, pouncing when it mattered most.

After a season of painful derby defeats, this late triumph felt like a turning point.

More importantly, it keeps West Ham firmly in touch with safety and offers hope that momentum can finally be built in the weeks ahead.
