Frank Illett, a Manchester United fan and content creator who goes by the United Strand no social media, eagerly awaited Manchester United's victory over West Ham United on Tuesday evening, hoping to win the bet and finally get his head shaved. The well-known Manchester United supporter, Frank Elliott, jokingly made a social media challenge in October 2024, vowing not to cut his hair until Manchester United achieved five consecutive wins. However, he didn't expect to wait this long without the Red Devils reaching even that short streak.
In an exclusive interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca, Frank Illett spoke about his feelings as his long challenge, which lasted nearly 500 days (492 days to be exact), drew to a close. He had refrained from cutting his hair until the team achieved a specific winning streak. With the appointment of interim manager Michael Carrick, Manchester United won four consecutive matches against Manchester City (2-0), Arsenal (3-2), Fulham (3-2), and Tottenham (2-0), all in the English Premier League.
Manchester United fans were hoping for a fifth consecutive victory against West Ham to finally relieve them of the burden they had been carrying for over a year.
However, Manchester United disappointed their fans by being held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United in their Premier League match on Matchday 26.
