AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to undergo surgery after sustaining a fractured jaw during Sunday’s Serie A fixture against Parma, according to reports in Italian media.
The England international was injured in the opening stages at San Siro after colliding with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi while attempting to connect with a cross inside the penalty area. The incident occurred around the 10-minute mark and required Loftus-Cheek to be stretchered off the field. Milan went on to lose the match 1-0.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia indicated that, in addition to broken upper teeth and facial lacerations, Loftus-Cheek suffered a fracture to the alveolar bone — an injury described as serious and likely to sideline him for several months. Surgery was scheduled for Monday.
The timing represents a significant setback for Milan, both in terms of squad depth and midfield balance, particularly as the club navigates a demanding stretch of the domestic campaign. The physical nature of the injury and projected recovery period suggest a prolonged absence, potentially impacting tactical continuity and rotation options.
AC Milan did not immediately comment when contacted outside standard business hours in Italy.
