Kieran Trippier will bring his time at Newcastle United to a close this summer, with the experienced right-back set to depart when his contract expires.
The 35-year-old joined the Magpies from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, becoming the club’s first signing under their new Saudi-backed ownership.
At the time, Newcastle were battling relegation - but Trippier quickly became a cornerstone of their revival under manager Eddie Howe.
During his spell at St James’ Park, the former England international played a pivotal role in transforming the club’s fortunes.
He helped Newcastle secure Champions League qualification in both 2023 and 2025 and was instrumental in ending their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy by lifting the EFL Cup last season.
In an emotional farewell message, Trippier described Newcastle as the club where he has “felt most at home.”
“It’s emotional and I’m really going to miss it,” he said.
“I want to thank the supporters for sticking with me through everything - the good and the bad. You’ve always been there for me.
“To my team-mates, it’s been an incredible journey."

Trippier also expressed gratitude to Eddie Howe, who signed him after their previous time together at Burnley.
Howe praised the defender’s influence, both on and off the pitch.
“Kieran has been outstanding from day one,” Howe said.
“He raised standards across the club and played a huge role in changing our trajectory."

While Newcastle have made bigger-money signings, few have matched Trippier’s impact following his £12 million arrival.
When he joined, the club was in dire straits - sitting 19th in the table with just one win and fresh from an FA Cup upset against Cambridge United.
But Trippier brought belief and professionalism, helping to attract other key players such as Bruno Guimaraes.
His mission was clear from the outset: to help Newcastle return to where they belong.
Despite a challenging recent campaign, there is little doubt he achieved that goal.
Trippier’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter as Newcastle look to reshape their squad with a younger profile.
However, his legacy is firmly cemented.
When he leaves, he is expected to receive a fitting farewell from supporters - many of whom regard him as one of the finest right-backs in the club’s history.
