Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has thrown his support behind interim boss Michael Carrick, insisting the former midfielder has the “DNA” to lead the club on a permanent basis.
Carrick, who stepped in following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal in January, has overseen an impressive turnaround at Old Trafford. Under his guidance, United have recorded seven wins in 10 matches, suffering just one defeat.
The resurgence has lifted the club to third in the Premier League, putting them firmly on course for a return to the UEFA Champions League with seven games remaining this season.
Speaking on Tuesday, Ivory Coast international Amad praised Carrick’s leadership, highlighting both his experience and deep understanding of the club.
“From a personal view, he’s the right man,” Amad said. “He has a lot of experience, he knows the club and has the DNA. His relationship with every player is very good.”
Amad also pointed to the positive atmosphere within the squad, suggesting Carrick’s man-management has been key to United’s recent form.
“Sometimes this kind of manager can bring the club where they belong. It’s not the players who decide, but my honest opinion is we’re really happy to have Michael Carrick as a manager.”
Forward Bryan Mbeumo, who joined from Brentford last year, echoed Amad’s sentiments, underlining the impact Carrick has had behind the scenes.
“He knows how to talk to us and we’re going to try to take as much as we can from him,” Mbeumo said. “It’s been easier because he knows the place. It’s been great to work under him.”
With momentum building, Manchester United now turn their attention to a crucial Premier League clash against Leeds United on 13 April.
As results continue to improve and player support strengthens, Carrick’s case for the permanent role at Old Trafford is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
