Arsenal continued their quest to win the UEFA Champions League title for the first time in their history, after qualifying for the semi-finals of the continental competition for the second consecutive year.
Arsenal drew 0-0 with their Portuguese visitors, Sporting Lisbon, on Wednesday evening in the second leg of their quarter-final tie in Europe's premier club competition.
Neither team managed to score throughout the match, which was played at the Emirates Stadium in London, despite both sides squandering numerous chances during the 90 minutes. Arsenal ultimately secured their place in the semi-finals thanks to their 1-0 victory in the first leg in Lisbon, Portugal. They will now face Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, after the Spanish giants eliminated their compatriots, Barcelona, in the quarter-finals.
The first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Atlético Madrid and Arsenal is scheduled to take place in Madrid on April 29, with the return leg in London on May 5.
Arsenal are aiming to complete a domestic double this season, winning both the Champions League and the Premier League titles, a trophy they haven't won since the 2003/04 season, after failing to secure the League Cup and FA Cup.
