Egyptian star Mohamed Salah revealed that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard gave him invaluable advice that helped convince him to leave Liverpool. The "Egyptian King" is set to leave Anfield this summer, a year before his contract expires, bringing to a close a nine-year career at the club. This comes in response to Gerrard's suggestion that he leave "on his own terms" while at the peak of his career.

Salah spoke with Gerrard on the TNT Sports program "The Breakdown" and revealed how the former England midfielder gave him valuable advice during a dinner they shared, which helped him make the best decision to end his Liverpool career.

Salah addressed Gerrard, saying, "People didn't know about your visit to my home. We had a fruitful conversation, and I really appreciate your opinion. I'm happy to be leaving the club now on good terms." He added, "You told me then, 'Leave on your own terms,' and those words are still etched in my memory. I'm satisfied with what I've achieved, and everything that's happened this season has made me realize it's time to leave."

He continued, "I haven't aged suddenly, so I had a fantastic season last year. I think I still have a lot to offer, and I'll see what's best for me. But after this season, I feel like saying, 'Well, this is the right decision now, and I'm comfortable with it.' It's been a tough season for all of us, and I don't want to go into details."

In April 2025, Mohamed Salah renewed his contract with Liverpool for two more years (until June 2027), but his declining statistics this season prompted his decision to leave a year before his contract with the team was due to expire.
