Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, sealing a 6-5 aggregate victory over the German giants.
The reigning European champions survived intense pressure in Munich to secure another final appearance, where they will now face Arsenal.
Bayern captain Manuel Neuer admitted his side failed to make the most of their opportunities despite dominating large spells of the match.
“We weren't killers in attack today. That key moment in the game was missing. We got into good positions, but we lacked sharpness inside the PSG box. Right now, disappointment is the overriding emotion.”
The German goalkeeper pointed to Bayern’s lack of composure in front of goal, especially after scoring four times in Paris during the first leg.
PSG midfielder Joao Neves praised his team’s resilience after overcoming one of Europe’s toughest opponents.
“It’s always special to reach another final. We’re proud of our journey and what we’ve achieved. Bayern are a fantastic team and always difficult to face, but we know how to fight through tough moments. Now we’re ready for what comes next.”
Forward Desire Doue highlighted teamwork and relentless effort as the foundation of PSG’s success this season.
“We never change our mentality. The coach wants us to press, attack, defend and give everything for each other. That’s how you win trophies. Everyone fought together and that’s our biggest strength.”
PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia described Bayern Munich as the toughest opponent the French side has faced this season.
“We’re very happy to be in the final. We know Arsenal will be another difficult challenge, but this team has shown many times what we’re capable of. I think Bayern was the hardest game of our season.”
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany backed his side to bounce back stronger after their Champions League exit.
“We needed to be more decisive. Congratulations to PSG. Our Champions League journey ends here this season, but there will be another opportunity, and that motivates me.”
PSG will now turn their attention to the Champions League final against Arsenal as they continue their pursuit of another European crown.
