FIFA's Referees Committee has announced the officiating crew for the Morocco-France match in the World Cup being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Moroccan national team is scheduled to face their French counterparts, Thursday, in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The FIFA Referees Committee decided to assign the match to an all-Argentine refereeing team, led by Facundo Tello, assisted by Pablo Belatti and Gabriel Chadé, with Dario Herrera as the fourth official and Cristian Navarro as the reserve referee. French media described the appointment of a refereeing team from a single country to officiate a World Cup match as unusual compared to what has occurred in most of the tournament's matches.
This match is expected to be Facundo Tello's first international match officiating for the French national team, a highly anticipated test given the sensitivity of the encounter and the controversy surrounding it.
