World Cup winners Spain have reclaimed top spot in the latest FIFA World Rankings after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup final in New York.
La Roja, who had slipped from first place in April, returned to the summit after their victory over Argentina, replacing the Albiceleste, who drop to second following their defeat in Sunday's final.
France remain third despite suffering a dramatic 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place play-off, while the Three Lions stay fourth in the updated standings.
Brazil climb one place to fifth, with Morocco also moving up one spot to sixth. Portugal, who were knocked out in the last 16 by eventual champions Spain, fall two places to seventh.
Belgium rise to eighth after reaching the World Cup quarter-finals, overtaking neighbours the Netherlands, who slip to ninth.
Co-hosts Mexico are the biggest movers in the top 10, climbing four places to 10th. It marks their first return to the top 10 since March 2022. Germany, eliminated by Paraguay in the World Cup, drop two spots to 12th.
Elsewhere, two of the tournament's surprise packages enjoyed significant rises in the rankings. Switzerland climb five places to 14th after reaching the quarter-finals, while Norway record one of the biggest jumps, soaring 12 places to 19th following their impressive run to the last eight.
