Rio Ngumoha Fires Liverpool to Friendly Win Over Wrexham in New York

Liverpool continued their perfect start under new head coach Andoni Iraola with a 1-0 pre-season victory over Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in New York on Wednesday.

Teenage forward Rio Ngumoha scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute, finishing from close range to delight a crowd of more than 42,000, the majority of whom were backing the Reds at the iconic home of the New York Yankees and MLS side New York City FC.

The win follows Liverpool's 4-2 triumph over Sunderland in Nashville last weekend, marking back-to-back victories for Iraola since taking over from the dismissed Arne Slot.

Ngumoha Impresses as Injury List Continues

Liverpool were once again without Joe Gomez, who picked up an injury during the win over Sunderland.

New signing Jeremy Jacquet also missed the match, while World Cup participants Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak remained unavailable following their summer commitments.

Ahead of the game, Iraola confirmed that Gravenberch, Wirtz and Isak could return for Liverpool's final match of their United States tour against Leeds United at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday.

Wrexham's Momentum Halted

Wrexham entered the contest in high spirits after impressive pre-season victories over Manchester United and Leeds United.

The Welsh club, owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, narrowly missed out on a place in last season's Championship play-offs after falling short on the final day of the campaign.

Despite a spirited performance in New York, Phil Parkinson's side were unable to find a breakthrough as Liverpool secured another confidence-boosting result ahead of the new season.
