Joe Bevan produced an inspired display as Dundee claimed their first Scottish Premiership victory of the season with an impressive 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Dens Park.
The winger was at the heart of Dundee's bright start, setting up Joe Westley to volley Steven Pressley's side into an early lead.
Dundee continued to threaten, with Westley passing up an opportunity to double the advantage after capitalising on a defensive mistake.
Aberdeen goalkeeper Marius Muller was also called into action to deny Simon Murray.
Bevan remained a constant danger and eventually got the goal his performance deserved in the second half.
After Charlie Reilly's cross deflected off Lewis Mayo, the 22-year-old reacted brilliantly and rifled a superb strike beyond Muller to make it 2-0.
The hosts could have extended their advantage further, but Muller twice denied Ash Hay as Aberdeen struggled to contain Dundee's attacking threat.
Aberdeen finally began to show more urgency during the closing stages, with Owen Goodman making saves from Dan Happe and Kevin Nisbet, but Dundee stood firm to preserve their clean sheet.
Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson had highlighted his side's ability to fight until the final whistle after their comeback victory over Hearts, but there was to be no repeat at Dens Park.
Bevan had given the visitors an early warning when he found space and fired wide before creating Westley's opener.
He continued to cause problems down the right, repeatedly finding dangerous positions as Dundee threatened to increase their lead.
Aberdeen improved slightly after the interval, but Bevan's excellent second goal effectively ended their hopes of another comeback.
Muller prevented the scoreline from becoming more emphatic, producing several important saves and emerging as Aberdeen's standout performer.
Although the visitors grew stronger late on, Dundee had already done the damage, securing a deserved first league win of the campaign while bringing Aberdeen's promising start to an abrupt halt.
Dundee manager Steven Pressley: "The bottom line is I could run out of superlatives describing their performance.
"To a man, they were incredible and it's probably the proudest I've been after any Dundee performance since coming to this club.
"Really, really pleased. To ultimately get our first three points of the season early in the season's very important."
Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson: "An incredibly disappointing performance. I didn't recognise the team. We didn't do the basics right and it's not like us.
"We didn't outfight them, we didn't outrun them, we didn't outbattle them - they did the opposite to us and their front four set the press and then we couldn't cope with it."
