Paris Saint-Germain, the French league and Champions League champions, have announced the signing of French international left-back Lucas Digne from Aston Villa. The French club stated in a press release on their official website on Sunday: "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the return of Lucas Digne. The French international defender has signed a contract with the capital club until 2029 and will wear the number 12 jersey."
Lucas Digne was born on July 20, 1993, and progressed through the youth ranks at Lille, making his professional debut in Ligue 1 at the age of 18.
His impressive performances with Lille led to his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2013.
During his first two seasons in the capital, the left-back made 44 appearances and provided 5 assists for the team.
Among Lucas Digne's most notable achievements are winning two Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue twice, and three Trophée des Champions titles.
Digne has been playing for the French national team since 2014, earning 64 caps. He won the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the UEFA Nations League in 2021, and was part of the French squad that reached the final of UEFA Euro 2016 on home soil.
The defender also participated in the 2014 and 2016 World Cups, starting six matches in the latter tournament and helping France reach the semi-finals.
