Sudanese football giants Al-Hilal announced on Sunday the signing of German coach Josef Zinnbauer to replace Romanian Laurentiu Reghecampf, who opted to return to Tunisian club Espérance.
The Sudanese club stated in a Facebook post, "We are pleased to announce the signing of German coach Josef Zinnbauer to the position of head coach on a two-year contract."
Zinnbauer, 56, has extensive experience in Arab and African football. His most recent coaching stint was in the Algerian league with JS Kabylie. He has also coached Raja Casablanca of Morocco, Orlando Pirates of South Africa, and several Bundesliga teams.
Al-Hilal will return to domestic league matches in Sudan after participating in the Rwandan league last season due to the security situation in Sudan.
In the last edition of the CAF Champions League, Al-Hilal demonstrated its ability to go far in the competition before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Moroccan side RS Berkane.
