Crystal Palace have had a verbal offer worth more than £35m for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara rejected as they continue to strengthen Pierre Sage's squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 22-year-old Senegal international has emerged as a transfer target for the Eagles, but Ligue 1 side Monaco have turned down Palace's initial approach.
A deal worth more than £35m would make Camara one of the most expensive signings in Crystal Palace's history.
Despite his age, Camara already has considerable international experience, earning 49 caps for Senegal and featuring at this summer's World Cup.
The midfielder joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 for a reported €15m (£12.8m) after developing his career through several prestigious youth academies in Senegal before moving to French football.
Camara's performances for club and country have since enhanced his reputation, with Palace now attempting to bring him to the Premier League.
Palace have already been active in the transfer market under new manager Pierre Sage, making four signings this summer.
Striker Evann Guessand has arrived on loan from Aston Villa, while winger Dwight McNeil joined from Everton in a swap deal involving Brennan Johnson.
Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu also completed a free transfer this week, following the earlier arrival of Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo.
Sage has overseen the summer rebuild after replacing Oliver Glasner, who left Palace to become manager of Nottingham Forest.
