Diego Gomez Signs New Five-Year Brighton Contract

Paraguay international Diego Gomez has signed a new five-year contract with Brighton, securing his long-term future with the Premier League club.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined Brighton from MLS side Inter Miami in January 2025 and has since established himself as an important member of the squad. Gomez has scored 11 goals in 56 appearances for the Seagulls.

Gomez was also part of the Paraguay squad at the World Cup in North America, helping his country reach the last 16. He started their 1-0 defeat to France, which ended Paraguay's tournament.

Brighton sporting director Mike Cave welcomed the agreement and highlighted Gomez's impact since arriving at the club.

"Diego has been an important player for us since his arrival and we're pleased to have secured his long-term future," Cave said on Friday.

He added that Gomez had adapted seamlessly to Premier League football and established himself as a key member of the squad.

Brighton believe the Paraguay midfielder can continue his development and play an important role in helping the club achieve its ambitions this season and in the years ahead.
