Harry Kane has confirmed that contract extension talks with Bayern Munich are set to begin, with the Bundesliga champions eager to secure the England captain's future beyond 2027.
The 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker revealed that negotiations had been delayed until after his return from a post-World Cup holiday but are expected to get underway shortly.
Speaking at a media day in Munich on Monday, Kane said both parties remain relaxed about the situation despite his current contract entering its final year.
"I'm not sure exactly when, but they'll start this week or next week," Kane said.
"We're calm, they're calm with the situation. Obviously now's the time to start talking, because with only a year left it's important.
"But both sides are relaxed and I'm pretty sure there'll be talks this week or next week."
Kane joined Bayern Munich on a four-year contract in 2023 and has enjoyed a hugely successful spell in Germany.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has helped Bayern win two Bundesliga titles and a German Cup, while the club have also reached the Champions League semifinals in two of his three seasons.
Individually, Kane's numbers have been exceptional, with the England captain scoring 146 goals in 147 appearances across all competitions for Bayern.
Bayern have repeatedly expressed their desire to extend Kane's stay in Munich and described him as their "best transfer ever" at the end of last season.
Reports in Germany suggest a new contract could keep Kane at Bayern until at least 2029.
Kane's performances have also earned praise from German football legend Lothar Matthaeus, who believes the Bayern striker should be the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or in October.
Matthaeus, a former Ballon d'Or winner, said Kane "deserves" the award following an outstanding season in which he scored 61 goals in 51 matches.
"(Kane) delivered outstanding performances and, in my opinion, didn't have a single weak spell," Matthaeus wrote in a column for Sky Germany.
Kane will now turn his attention back to action on the pitch as defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich prepare to face Borussia Dortmund in the season-opening Supercup on Saturday.
