Karim Benzema has left Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal by mutual consent, bringing his brief spell with the Riyadh club to an end less than eight months after his arrival.
The former Real Madrid and France striker agreed to terminate his contract with Al Hilal, with the club confirming his departure on Monday.
Al Hilal thanked Benzema for his contribution during his time at the club, praising the veteran forward's professionalism, commitment and leadership both on and off the pitch.
Benzema also addressed his departure on social media, writing: "A chapter comes to an end."
The 38-year-old first moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023 after ending his glittering career at Real Madrid. He joined Al Ittihad and later helped the Jeddah club win the Saudi Pro League title in 2025.
However, a dispute over a contract extension in late January paved the way for Benzema to leave Al Ittihad and join Al Hilal for the remainder of the season.
Despite having one year remaining on his playing contract, Benzema also has an agreement running until 2030 to serve as an ambassador for Saudi tourism and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
His Al Hilal departure was announced just one day after the club completed the signing of England striker Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa for a reported £50 million ($68 million).
Benzema, however, is reportedly not planning to retire. Spanish newspaper AS reported that the former Ballon d'Or winner has received offers from Major League Soccer clubs in the United States as well as other teams in Saudi Arabia.
Al Hilal wished Benzema success in the next stage of his career as speculation now turns to where the decorated striker will play next.
