The Belgian Football Association will not support Gianni Infantino's bid for another term as FIFA president, citing concerns over transparency, governance and decision-making within world football's governing body.
Belgium joins a growing group of national associations, including England and Italy, that have withdrawn their backing for Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential election in March 2027.
FIFA confirmed on Sunday that Infantino intends to seek another term as president. He is currently the only declared candidate.
The Royal Belgian FA (RBFA) said it is still "seeking clear answers regarding the decision-making process and the next steps" following Infantino's abandoned proposal to introduce private investment into the World Cup.
Belgian officials have also demanded greater transparency over FIFA's decision to suspend United States forward Folarin Balogun's ban during the recent World Cup.
Balogun received a red card in the USA's last-32 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which initially ruled him out of the following round against Belgium through an automatic suspension.
However, FIFA intervened and lifted the ban, prompting widespread criticism. The controversy intensified after it emerged that US President Donald Trump had phoned Infantino regarding the matter.
"Two months after the events, we note that our questions remain unanswered to date," RBFA president Pascale Van Damme said.
The Belgian FA has formally requested that the Balogun case be placed on the agenda for the next FIFA Council meeting on 15 October.
Tensions between football's governing bodies have increased in recent weeks, with critics questioning Infantino's leadership and his plans to establish a new commercial structure involving private investors.
The proposal drew criticism over claims that it had been developed without sufficient consultation with FIFA's member associations.
Infantino ultimately shelved the plan amid mounting opposition, but the decision has done little to ease concerns over FIFA's governance as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
