Norwegian Star Praises Teammate
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has praised his teammate, the Englishman Elliot Anderson, following his impressive performance against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday. Haaland highlighted that the midfielder has made a fantastic start with the English side, which he joined last summer.
Speaking to a broadcaster after the match, Haaland said of Anderson: "He’s been amazing. It’s a fantastic start to his career with Manchester City. Honestly, this is what you expect from him—to come in and deliver a standout performance right away. It’s not easy, though; you need time to adapt to everything. He’s been truly impressive—all credit to him."
The Norwegian forward, who scored the winning goal against Leipzig, added: "The most important thing for me is helping the team secure victories, which I managed to do today. However, I believe we still need to push for more."
As reported by the official UEFA website, Haaland continued: "When we were 1-0 up, we should have pressed harder to try and get a second goal—maybe even a third. That’s what we need to do as a club; we have to work on improving that aspect."
Manchester City secured an exciting 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage. The English side took the lead through an own goal by Castello Lukeba in the 37th minute, before Ridle Baku equalized for the hosts early in the second half. Enzo Fernández restored the lead for Manchester City in the 58th minute, but Antonio Nusa equalized for Leipzig three minutes later. Haaland then stepped up to score the winning goal in the 78th minute, following an assist from Elliot Anderson.
With this result, Manchester City has reached 9 points from 4 matches, moving up to seventh place in the Champions League league-phase standings. This strengthens their chances of qualifying directly for the Round of 16, as the top eight teams advance straight to the next stage.
